We’ve seen some of the biggest hits of the new season of “Girls” unfold so far, but it looks like the gang may be in for a treat when season finale airs tonight on ABC.
With no shortage of new characters, new storylines and some of their favorite songs, there’s something for everyone, according to a new list of what to expect.
“I can’t say for sure, but I think we will see some new characters in this episode that we haven’t seen before,” executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman told the Hollywood Reporter.
“I think it’s going to be a little bit different than the last two seasons.”
In addition to a slew of new faces, the new characters include:Lily’s ex-boyfriend, Michael (Lili Reinhart), has become a new ally to the group.
“He is the new kid in town,” Urman teased.
The new girls are, of course, a lot like the new boys, which includes an all-new lead, Hannah Simone (Lena Dunham), as well as the usual suspects: a girl named Marnie (Emma Roberts), a lesbian who can fly, and a boy named Logan (Tyson Gebbia).
“I think we’re going to see a lot of new friendships that I think are going to come from a lot more of these people that have come together as a group,” Urmman said.
“There are some of them that I don’t think we’ve seen before.”
The show is also expected to introduce new storylines for some of its older characters, including Abby, Hannah’s mom, who’s still going strong after she had to take care of her.
“Abby’s mom has been really supportive of Hannah, she’s really supportive, she really cares for Hannah,” Urmans said.
Abby will have her own storyline as well, but Urman doesn’t say which one.
“She’s a new character,” she said.
The most surprising new character, of the many, is the former member of the gang called Logan.
He’s played by actor Ryan Kwanten, who previously appeared on “Orange is the New Black.”
“It’s really going to feel like a different experience for Logan,” Urmen said.
“He’s got this really cool weapon, and he’s been a lot cooler than everybody else in the gang, but that weapon was made of glass,” Urmann said.
When asked how Logan will deal with all the new people and new problems that are coming his way, Urman said, “It’s going the same way it always has.”
The episode also sees Lena (Molly Shannon), who’s now a mother herself, face a new set of challenges as well.
“We all get to go to school,” Urminesaid.
“Lena is the only girl who hasn’t gone to school.
She’s kind of stuck with her dad’s school and her mom’s school, and she has to deal with a lot.
Lena’s got a lot to deal in terms of being a mom.”
The new characters are set to be introduced in “Girls,” which airs Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC
